One of the things I like most about Courrèges’ vision is that it wasn’t just about the clothes, it was a lifestyle. Courrèges was fun, it was light, and most of all it was full of optimism. Models would come out onto the runway smiling and dancing, a first for the sombre world of haute couture. The rounded shapes, the infantile shades of blue and pink, and the bubbly fonts are all so non-threatening; it inspires a gentler world.
