Emanuel Ungaro 1970s Belted Tweed Coat
Ungaro's 1970s collections were defined by his mix of expressive prints. This coat is an exceptional example from his early ready-to-wear line, Parallèle, with an exquisite geometric weave fabric in cream and blue.
Belted, the coat is consistent with the Soft Look of the 70s, but worn unbelted the shape is more reminiscent of Ungaro's beginnings as a pioneer of Space Age fashion in the late 60s, especially with its padded mandarin collar.
Upon inspecting the profile, the shoulder heads are padded as to form a very square shape, aided by two pleats. The matching blue and white buttons leave the last quarter to be fastened with a hook closure, or left open for a more casual look.
Apart from some minute stains, it is in perfect condition.
