Emanuel Ungaro Haute Couture F/W 1985-86 Gregorian Pattern Jacket

The construction on this crossed jacket is just remarkable. It has very prominent shoulders, yet the waist is defined by a complex system of pleats, which seem to run from every corner of the garment. It has the added possibility to cinch it further using a ribbon on the back.

The brocade fabric has a wonder sheen from the black satin, but especially from the rust-colored threads which give it a luxurious texture.

The buttons are in themselves handcrafted jewels, each distinct from the next.

This piece is so very characteristic of 80s haute couture, with its powerful shoulders, snatched waist, and loud pattern. It was originally presented with a matching skirt, alongside similar ensembles with the same pattern.

The jacket is in very good condition, however the button hole loops have been worn down and, for long term use, could be easily replaced at your discretion.
