Lapidus Haute Couture S/S 1999-2000

Lapidus Haute Couture S/S 1999-2000

Lapidus Haute Couture S/S 1999-2000 Dye Pattern Coat

This full silk coat is a unique prototype from Maison Lapidus’ atelier tailleur. It was conceived for the Spring / Summer 1999 collection, during Olivier Lapidus’ tenure at his father’s couture house starting in 1989. The tag is still held in place with silk pins.

The outer and lining have complementary dye and marbling patterns. While this exact model didn’t make it to the runway, these colorful prints were at the center of this collection, appearing in different variations and color ways. The artisanal buttons are marbled purple and yellow, and provide a contrasting texture.

Maison Lapidus ceased haute couture activities in 2000, making this piece one of the last to come out of Ted Lapidus’ ateliers.
